按國傢標準，巴氏合金可以分為錫基合金和鉛基合金兩種。鉛基合金的強度和硬度比錫基合金低，耐蝕性也差。所以客戶在關鍵及重要部位使用巴氏合金的時候，通常選用錫基合金;其他大部分場合許多客戶仍然選擇使用鉛基合金，盡管鉛基合金的性能沒有錫基合金好，但它使用起來比錫基合金更經濟。 巴氏合金軸瓦能否長期地正常工作，與軸承合金的澆鑄質量密切相關，如合金的質量不好或澆鑄的工藝不良，軸承合金熔化時過熱、有雜質、瓦胎清洗工作做的差、澆鑄後冷卻速度控制得不好等，都會造成軸承合金夾渣和氣孔，出現裂紋、脫胎產生廢品。軸瓦澆鑄工序較多，隻有嚴格按工序要求進行操作，方可保證軸承合金的澆鑄質量，其澆鑄工序包括：瓦胎清洗和胎掛錫，及合金的熔化、澆鑄及冷卻。
