珍珠巖

是火山噴發的酸性巖經急速冷卻而形成的玻璃質巖石。與其具有相似成因，產狀和成分的還有黑巖和松脂巖。珍珠巖在高溫下煅燒後，體積迅速膨脹4-30倍，巖石中形成無數的玻璃質封閉孔，這種燒成品叫膨脹珍珠巖。

應用領域

1．在建築工業上的應用：膨脹珍珠巖重量輕，隔音、隔熱、性能好，被廣泛用於建築工業上（約占用量的60%）如一般珍珠巖混凝土的吸音能力是普通混凝土20倍，重量僅為砂子的1/10-1/20，用其配制的灰漿比傳統漿輕60%，因此膨脹珍珠巖被大量用作混凝土和灰漿的骨料，它不僅能提高現代建築物保溫、隔熱、承重性能，還可減少剛材消耗和基建成本。

2．在保溫隔熱材料工業中的應用： 膨脹珍珠巖與水玻璃瀝青、水泥等膠結料一起制成各種形狀與規格的制品，廣泛用於化工、石油、電力、冶金、交通等行業的熱工窯爐、管道設備及設施中，具有隔熱、隔蒸汽、保溫、防輻射、防水、防潮等作用。

3．在助濾劑、塗料、填料等方麵的應用：膨脹珍珠巖微細粉末中，形成許多毛細管，外觀呈色。將其加工成珍珠巖助濾劑，比矽藻土容量輕，流速大，可用於石油、代工、醫藥、食品、污水處理等方麵。另外，還可以做橡膠、搪瓷、紙張、塑料的填料。助濾劑的膨脹珍珠巖還可作口腔印模材料的填料，用膨脹珍珠巖配成的塗料，可增加覆蓋能力和塗膜硬度，與油漆摻合用於船的地麵起者輕質，保溫、防腐等作用。

4． 在農業方麵的應用：膨脹珍珠巖多孔，具有吸附能力。在農業上可作為肥料、水分的載體，改良土壤，也常作農藥殺蟲劑的載體。另外，還可作為傢禽傢畜飼料添加劑和鋪墊料。
