槽型光電開關其實對射式光電開關的一種又被叫做U型光電開關，是一款紅外線感應光電產品，由紅外線發射管和紅外線接收管組合而成，而槽寬則就決定瞭感應接收型號的強弱與接收信號的距離，以光為媒體，由發光體與受光體間的紅外光進行接收與轉換，檢測物體的位置、。槽型光電開關於接近開關同樣是無接觸式的，受檢測體的制約少，且檢測距離長，可進行長距離的檢測（幾十米）檢測精度高能檢測小物體
