錳砂濾料是采用優質天然錳礦石加工而成，外觀呈褐色，對於地下水除鐵、除錳過濾有獨特的效果。

錳砂濾料是采用國內優質錳砂礦、晶粒致密、機械強度大、化學活性強、不易破碎、不溶於水的天然錳礦砂。經水洗打磨除雜、破碎、乾燥、磁選、篩分、除塵等工藝加工成砂。再把加工好的錳砂按一定的級配調合而成。它具有水處理濾料最理想的級配比例，使它在單位體積內有最大的比表麵積、最強的截污能力、最大的氧化催化作用和最小的反沖洗流失率。

錳砂的使用的年限，對含鐵濃度高的地下水一般為3~5年，對含鐵濃度低的地下水，使用年限更長，有的已逾十年。在有的天然錳砂濾池中，濾層上部的錳砂會逐漸形成球狀的“銹砂”，“銹砂”表麵有一層“活性濾膜”，仍具有接觸催化除鐵能力，所以，形成“鐵砂”，不是天然錳砂失效的標志。當”銹砂“長大致使濾料粒徑過粗而影響除鐵效果時，才有必要更換部分濾料。所以，在我們的施工過程中要註意是否有“銹砂”的存在，如果有的話一定要辨別清楚“銹砂”的大小，如果是小的規格，可以繼續使用，可以減少我們的工業成本，如果是大的規格，就要換掉，以免影響過濾水質。
