人造磨料的一種。三氧化二鋁(Al2O3)含量在98％以上，並含有少量氧化鐵、氧化矽等成分，呈白色。
白剛玉 以工業氧化鋁粉為原料，於電弧中經2000度以上高溫熔煉後冷卻制成，經粉碎整形，磁選去鐵，篩分成多種粒度，其質地致密、硬度高，粒形成尖角狀，適用於制造陶 瓷、樹脂固結磨具以及研磨、拋光、噴砂、精密鑄造（精鑄專用剛玉）等，還可用於制造高級耐火材料。
