Tradition and innovation: 75 years of Nann technology

For 75 years the clamping technology solutions by Nann have been setting standards. We develop ideas in close consultations with our customers and implement solutions quickly, flexibly and with high levels of quality. In many cases, our customers benefit from expert knowledge that is very valuable when it comes to complex development and production processes. By providing expert advice and individual designs we are able to always deliver exactly those clamping devices that you require. History

The history of Nann is the story of a family and entrepreneurship in more or less difficult times. If you immerse yourself in the Nann saga, you will be able to understand the ways that lead to the company as it is now, and the consistency of the development from a very small work shop to one of the leading companies in its sector over three generations.

1937	Simon Nann sets the foundation of his company in Gosheim. The idea of manufacturing collets comes from his cousin, who worked as an engineer for Index in Esslingen.
1940	The company moves to Böttingen.
1942	Simon Nann employs 27 persons. He decides to purchase a shed for machining facilities, while the hardening shop moves to a larger building.
1945	Machines are partially being dismantled by allied forces.
1948	With the monetary reform the demand grows rapidly and, consequently, also the company.
1955	The shed is being replaced by a massive building.
1960	Additional manufacturing site is built in Gosheim.
1965	Substantial extension of the Gosheim branch.
1967	The increasing production leads to an expansion of premises in Böttingen.
1968/69	Extension of Gosheim facilities.
1970/71	The family based company gains strength by changing the corporate form to a "Kommanditgesellschaft". Simon Nann and his four children are the owners.
1975	Establishment of subsidiary company in Spain as a reaction to competition on a global scale.
1978	Eugen Nann becomes personally liable shareholder and managing director.
1979/80	New building exclusively for in-house grinding activities and new offices for administration in Böttingen.
1981	Aquisition of an additional building in Böttingen’s Lindenstraße.
1982	Turning and milling shop moves into the new building in Lindenstraße.
1987	Celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary. The company employs approx. 90 persons.
1990	Realignment of the company strategy. The Spanish subsidiary is sold.
1991	Lack of space requires extension of the building in Böttingen’s Lindenstraße
1992	Company restructuring. Concentration of all facilities in Böttingen. The subsidiary in Gosheim seizes activity.
1999	Klaus Nann, grandson of the company founder, takes over the shares of Eugen and Helmut Nann und becomes managing director. Conversion into GmbH & Co. KG. Establishment of Nann Verwaltungs GmbH.
2002/03	A new production site is built in order to integrate all company activities. Now, about 60 skilled employees work for Nann. International representations become increasingly important.
2004/05	Successfull market introduction of patented clamping heads in all common sizes.
2007	Overwhelming success of the first open house presentation on the occasion of the company’s 70th anniversary.
2012	75th anniversary of the Nann company.
