核桃殼濾料是采用優質的山核桃殼作原料,經過破碎、拋光、蒸洗、藥物處理,兩次篩選加工而成的一種水處理濾料。核桃殼濾料具有硬度高、耐磨損、抗壓性好,抗壓力為23.4kgf,化學性能穩定,不在酸堿中溶解、吸附截污能力強,吸附率為27—50%,親水性好,抗油浸等優點。
核桃殼濾料由於本身的硬度，理想的比重、多孔和多麵性，並經特殊的物理化學處理（將其色素、脂肪、油脂、電付離子去除乾凈），使它在水處理中具有較強的除油性能，除固體微粒，易反洗等優良性能，核桃殼濾料已廣泛用在油田含油污水處理、工業廢水處理和民用水處理。是取代石英砂濾料，提高水質，大幅度降低水處理成本的新一代濾料。經北京林業大學、山東省科學院測試中心、江蘇省環境保護研究所測定，抗壓能力強粒徑為1.25-1.60mm的核桃殼粒，平均抗壓極限為0.2295KN(23.40kgf)。粒徑為0.80-1.00mm的核桃殼粒，平均抗壓極限為0.165KN(16.84kgf)。化學性質穩定，不含有毒物質，在酸、堿、水中溶解量很小，核桃殼在鹽酸溶液中的損耗為4.99%,在氫氧化鈉溶液中的損耗率為3.8%，不會引起水質惡化現象。
